(Following is a quick outline of a more detailed, better formatted page currently in development.) • People • Career • Uniformed Staff - 67 Total • 48 shift fire fighters (4 shifts - 12 per shift) • 3 special duty fire fighters (Codes Division) • 8 lieutenants (4 shifts - 2 per shift) • 5 assistant chiefs (4 shift commanders + 1 Fire Marshal) • 1 fire alarm superintendent • 1 deputy chief • 1 fire chief • Civilian - 3 Total • 3 administrative employees • Volunteer • Approximately 6-10 "Class I" certified for interior structural fire fighting. (Number varies.) • Approximately 30 additional active volunteers who are not certified Class I. (Number varies.) • Bunkers • Approximately 9 Bunkers (Capacity of 36) (Number varies.) • Minimum Staffing • The Ithaca Fire Department has a minimum staffing level of 11 career emergency response personnel. Often there may be only 11 emergency response personnel on duty (8 fire fighters & 3 officers).
